You can cancel whenever you like. There is no notice period and no exit fee. If you are leaving because something is not working, tell us first at [email protected], because there is a fair chance we can fix it.
Before you cancel: download your data
Do this first. Go to Backups and download a full backup: your files, your databases, your mailboxes. Save it somewhere you control.
This is the important part of this article, so it is worth being blunt about why. After your account is closed, we keep your data for 30 days and then delete it permanently and irreversibly. There is no copy after that, anywhere. If you have not downloaded a backup by then, the data is gone and nobody can bring it back.
Also do this before you cancel
- Move your domain's DNS to wherever the site is going, or the site simply stops working when we switch off.
- Move your email, and change the MX records. Download anything in your mailboxes that you want to keep.
- Copy anything you need out of your databases.
Cancelling
- Go to Billing in your panel.
- Choose Cancel plan.
- Confirm.
What happens then
- Your sites and email stop at the end of your paid period.
- Your data is retained for 30 days from closure.
- After 30 days it is permanently and irreversibly deleted.
Within those 30 days, you can change your mind. Reactivate the account and everything comes back. After 30 days, there is nothing to come back to.
Your domain is yours
Cancelling with us does not affect your domain. It is registered in your name with your registrar and it stays there. Point it wherever you like.
Refunds
If you have paid annually and you are cancelling part way through, email [email protected] and we will discuss it with you.
The assistant in your control panel can see your actual account and answer about your sites, your plan and your usage. For anything else, email [email protected] and a person will answer.
