This article is precise, because it matters and because you should never be surprised by it.
While your account is active
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and in good standing. That includes your website files, your databases, your mailboxes, and your automatic backups.
Your backup history is set by your plan:
- Starter: 7 days
- Pro: 14 days
- Premium: 30 days
- Platinum: 30 days
After suspension or closure
If your account is suspended (for example, for non-payment) or closed (because you cancelled):
We retain your data for 30 days from the date of suspension or closure.
After those 30 days, your data is permanently and irreversibly deleted.
Permanently and irreversibly means exactly that. It is not archived. It is not held in a cold store. It is not recoverable by us, by you, or by anyone else, at any price, for any reason. Once the 30-day window closes, the data no longer exists.
Within the 30 days, you can come back
- If your account was suspended for a failed payment, pay the outstanding amount and everything is restored within minutes.
- If you cancelled and changed your mind, reactivate and your account comes back as it was.
Get your own copy, at any time
You do not need to ask us and you do not need a reason. From the Backups section of your panel you can download a full backup of your account at any time: your files, your databases, your mailboxes. It takes a couple of minutes.
Do this:
- Before you cancel
- If a payment has failed and you are not sure you can fix it quickly
- Routinely, as a matter of good practice
The one sentence to remember
Once your account has been suspended or closed for 30 days, the data is gone for good, so download your backup before then.
